Our Leaders
Doug has been married 25 years to Julie Perkins with two girls in college (Madison, Olivia), and a boy in high school (Finn). The Perkins were previously parishioners of Saints Simon and Jude (SSJ) for years when the church was led by Franciscans and all of the kids attended SSJ school. They stumbled upon St James in 2023, were immediately drawn to the inclusive/loving culture, and were received to the church in 2024.
Doug has previously volunteered with Big Brothers of Los Angeles, AYSO Soccer, and supported the Discernment Ministry at Sts. Simon and Jude. Doug loves outdoor activities and enjoys surfing, paddleboarding, cycling, & running. Professionally Doug is a Digital Product Manager in the healthcare industry
Doug Perkins
Phil shares 24 years with his wife, Lea, and together, we have three kids: Lexi, Pierce, and Paxton. His happiest moments are spent with his family, embracing the “beautiful chaos” of their adventures—whether they’re rock climbing, hiking, camping, or relaxing by a beach bonfire.
Phil’s work in the community, from the Orange County Mission to ministries at St. Simon and Jude, has been dedicated to bringing people together in faith and fellowship. For over 25 years, he’s also run a concrete construction company, striving to make a positive impact with integrity and purpose.
Phil Tanghal
Greg is married to Robin for 25 years and together they have three daughters, Emma, who attends UC Berkeley, (21), Ava, who attends Cal Poly SLO (18), and Lucy, who attends HBHS (16). Greg is a SoCal native who attended Mater Dei High School and U.C.L.A. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, backpacking and playing guitar with friends and family.
Professionally, he operates companies in various roles for private equity firms, currently as Chief Strategy Officer and President of Automation & Intelligence for a sustainable infrastructure company.
